Brief bio-profile of personal and entrepreneurial activity of Kshetrimayum Vedmani Devi, Ph.D., Global Goodwill Ambassador India for Humanitarian Act
Apart of her educational contribution, she is an active entrepreneur working with local community, in particular women farmers and workers, for promoting entrepreneurship skill in food processing with focus on enabling sustainable livelihoods. She has been inspired by her involvement with local communities in Manipur by giving free post harvest management trainings, specially in the remote uplands, to organize local farmers particularly women farmers and workers in shaping their lives through entrepreneurship in food processing. These benefited rural farmers in finding market for their produces while providing raw materials for food entrepreneurs and contributed towards food security and livelihoods enhancement.
Being both an academician and field practitioner on Food Science and Nutrition, Dr Vedmani translated her interests in ethnic food processing by starting an incubation process at (Sagolband Salam Leikai in Imphal West District, Manipur during 2014 and named the platform for the community as “Vedam Agro Enterprises” and registered it formally in 2015. Now it has FSSAI registered and ISO certified food industry.
Vedam Agro Enterprises is engaged in food processing both as a manufacturer and as networking platform for women farmers and workers in the State of Manipur, with connectivity in entire North East India. Through its entrepreneurial venture, the Enterprise seeks to achieve certain end targets that are social and economic in nature. The primary focus is on strengthening the establishment and functioning of the Enterprise as an initial step towards consolidating a common working platform for women engaged in food processing entrepreneurship and women primary producers based in suburban and rural pockets of Manipur. In so doing, the objective is to achieve targets of: (i) sustainability of women primary producers through networking with food entrepreneurs, (ii) enhancing the productivity of women led entrepreneurships through shared manufacturing and marketing facilities.
With the inspiration by involvement with local communities in Manipur, specially in the remote uplands, helps to organise local farmers particularly women farmers and workers in shaping their lives through entrepreneurship in food processing. This makes benefit rural farmers in finding market for their produces while providing raw materials for food entrepreneurs. There is 120 MSME registered women entrepreneurs working on micro enterprises and 700 registered farmers so far. She made it as a cluster “ AGRO WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS CLUSTER MANIPUR” which is registered on Trust and there she is working as a Chairperson of the cluster helping in the backward and forward linkages, giving post harvest management trainings, doing value addition of their products and quality packaging to make a place in the local and regional market. In the long run, efforts will be made towards developing more clusters for better networking amongst women primary producers and the foodpreneurs. This will contribute towards food security and livelihoods enhancement.

Kshetrimayum Vedmani Devi has a strong background on food and nutrition studies, having worked with tribal communities in the uplands of Manipur in North East India. She studied the foods & food habits and their nutritional status of few ethnic tribes for her doctoral thesis. She was honoured by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on the occasion of World Water Day at New Delhi on 22 March, 2021. Vedmani was among 10 women from across India to be honoured by the Republic of Women Organization with the citation "Excellence in Women Empowerment" for addressing issues on SDG-1 (No Poverty) of the United Nations.
